"The finalists for the 'GCN Alum of the Year' represent a mix of cross regional companies at different stages that were carefully selected by our distinguished board based on execution, opportunity for growth and economic impact," said Jon Gregory, president and CEO of Golden Capital Network. "Each company has participated in past GCN events, secured funding and are well poised for future success and growth. Our board will make its final selection in the coming weeks and the winner will be announced at our upcoming Sacramento conference."

The Sacramento conference will kick off the New Year by showcasing approximately 60 of the hottest entrepreneurs throughout the 11 western states to leading investors that are actively seeking investments. All presenters will receive guaranteed investor exposure and an opportunity for follow-up meetings with qualified investors. The investor panelists will then select several finalists that will have a chance to compete in the "Winners Circle" for an exclusive private investor showing and a package of professional services worth over $25,000.

In addition, the conference will feature prominent speakers, such as John Fisher of Draper Fisher Jurveston, who will discuss "Successful Investing in 2003" with other leading investors, including Jack Harrington of Advanced Technology Ventures, Daniel Rubin of Alloy Ventures and Stephen Bird of Focus Ventures. Tony Perkins, Editor-in-Chief of Red Herring magazine, will also be featured as a keynote speaker discussing "Trends and Predictions in the Always-On Business and Consumer Technology Worlds".

GCN has also confirmed a record number of seed and early-stage venture capital, corporate, and angel investors to participate as panelists and/or speakers. Investor speakers have the opportunity to market their fund, share industry expertise with hundreds of entrepreneurs and their peer investors, review top-notch, pre-screened deals, and establish important new relationships with other active angel and venture investors who focus on the Western Unites States. Qualified investors interested in nominating or participating as panelists in GCN events may submit information online or send an email to jim@goldencapital.net.

Accredited investors are also invited to attend a joint session hosted by CalPERS (California Public Employees' Retirement System) and GCN, entitled "Institutionally-Backed Fund-of-Funds: New Sources of Capital for Private Equity Managers in California". Leaders from Grove Street Advisors, Thomas Weisel Partners and Bank of America will discuss the criteria they use in analyzing new investment opportunities and discuss how the recent volatility in the capital markets has impacted the private equity industry. Venture capitalists attending this session, which will take place from 6:30-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, will get insight into CalPERS investment strategies for 2003 and a personal outlook for California's venture capital investment landscape.

GCN is still accepting online attendee registration. For the conference overview, registration and agenda details, visit www.goldencapital.net.
